How Kenya’s eBiashara is powering digital transformation across various sectors

Kenyan startup eBiashara is an ICT enterprise solutions provider that offers cutting edge turnkey services that power digital transformation across diverse sectors.

eBiashara began life in 2014, introducing a supply chain finance platform before later expanding to offer cloud computing, e-commerce, cyber security, business intelligence and analytics solutions, among others.

“We have worked with various clients in different sectors, such as banking, insurance, manufacturing, retail, agriculture and education. Today we are a Select Partner with AWS, a Cloud Solution Provider with Microsoft, and we further work with other major technology brands,” eBiashara CEO Baiju Shah told Disrupt Africa.

The primary goal is to empower businesses globally with cutting-edge technology solutions that drive innovation, growth, and success.

“Our mission is to offer exceptional software and infrastructure services that empower businesses to optimise their operations, increase efficiency and achieve success. We strive to provide cost-effective, high-quality solutions that are customised to our clients’ specific needs and enable them to stay ahead in a rapidly changing digital landscape,” Shah said.

“One of the biggest gaps that we noticed in the market was providing tech-related services, platforms, augmenting services and solutions to various industries through a boutique outfit like us. A lot of the “large 5s”, as we call them, started concentrating a lot towards larger companies, giving way to companies like us to service not just the SME segment but also the local large corporate banks.”

The company has been self-funded by Shah, and to date remains 100 per cent debt free.

“Owning contracts with three of the largest banks in the East African region, as well as catering to the local operational requirements and understanding has been one of our USPs and serious landmarks,” he said.

“Additionally, a cloud native supply chain finance platform with 100 per cent development in Kenya for Africa is another serious landmark. We were able to acquire two significant companies over the last three years, which include an e-commerce company which is the largest e-commerce platform provider in East Africa after Shopify, and another company which is an Odoo partner for implementing ERP systems within the SMEs.”

Quite the growth story. eBiashara currently operates through its own offices in Kenya, Uganda and India, but also does business across in the UK, Egypt, Nigeria, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda and the US.

“Our expansion plans include setting up an R&D centre in India, together with an operating office out of the UAE for expanding our services in the Middle East and North African markets,” said Shah.
