Online sports betting firm Betway has launched a fintech challenge in Ghana that will award cash prizes to innovative solutions in the financial services space.

The Betway Fintech Challenge, which is open to all Ghanaian residents aged 18 and above, is accepting applications until March 8, with shortlisted finalists offered access to training and workshops to help build their businesses.

Five finalists will be invited to pitch their startup to a panel of judges, with three winners to be announced in May. The grand winner, first runner-up and second runner up will take home GHS20,000 (US$3,800), GHS15,000 (US$2,900) and GHS10,000 (US$1,900) respectively.

Solutions are being sought in the following categories – Customer Connection and Experience Innovation, Data-driven Design, Investment and Wealth Management, Blockchain, and Organisational or Process Transformation.

“The Betway Fintech Challenge will offer developers in Ghana an opportunity to design applications which will help address some of these problems identified in our society,” said Ghana country manager at Betway Kwabena Oppong Nkrumah.
