Lagos Startup Week set for September

Lagos Startup Week is to take place for the third consecutive year in September, with over 60 events to be hosted over the course of the week celebrating the city’s startup ecosystem.

Disrupt Africa reported in 2015 the first ever African version of the global Startup Week event launched in Lagos, Nigeria, bringing together entrepreneurs and small business owners in a range of sessions, including keynotes, panels and meetups.

The inaugural event saw over 1,000 entrepreneurs attend, prompting the return of the event the following year.

This year, Lagos Startup Week will take place for the third year running, between September 25 and 29; taking the theme of “Visionary”.

The organiser said the event provides an opportunity to bring the growing entrepreneurial community in Lagos together, with the aim of showing the world why Lagos is a great place to start and grow a business.

“This year, we are putting together an amazing line up of speakers which include entrepreneurs, experts, investors and mentors who have made Lagos startup ecosystem what it is today” Olumide Olayinka, organiser of Lagos Startup Week said.

The week will feature fireside chats, panel discussions, debates, product showcases, dialogues, investor pitches and masterclasses. For the first time a startup expo will also be held, giving 100 startups the chance to showcase their products.
