New Cities Foundation has opened applications to the 2017 edition of the Global Urban Innovators programme, searching for innovative startups using technology to tackle the biggest urban living challenges worldwide.

The programme looks for cutting-edge tech startups and social enterprises addressing urban living challenges, particularly in the areas of civic engagement, demographics, vitality, economic development, greenfield cities, built environment, mobility, placemaking, sustainability, financing strategies, resilience, and security.

Selected startups will be named the Urban Innovators of 2017, and will win a trip to South Korea to showcase their solutions at the New Cities Summit.

In addition, New Cities offers startups access to its network of global business leaders and influencers, as well as the opportunity to speak and showcase at other relevant industry events.

“New approaches to address the challenges of urban living are needed more than ever, and cities around the world have much to learn from innovators,” New Cities said.

To be eligible, startups must leverage technology, have demonstrable urban applications, display radical innovation and the potential to scale, be less than five years old, and have a pilot or prototype with tangible results.

Applications are open here, until February 15.
