Computer-aided diagnostics startup Dr CADx was named the winner of the Seedstars World event in Harare, Zimbabwe, over the weekend, and will now proceed to the global final to pitch for up to US$1 million in funding.

Disrupt Africa reported last week global early-stage startups competition Seedstars World announced the 12 startups that would pitch at the Harare event, with Dr CADx coming out on top.

The startup is developing a computer-aided diagnostic system to help doctors diagnose medical images more accurately, and to provide pervasive radiology diagnostics in regions which currently do not have radiologists.

Dr CADx will now pitch alongside other developing market startups at the global final in Geneva, Switzerland next year, for the opportunity to win up to US$1 million in equity investment.

Drivers licence acquisition tool Road Rules Solutions came in second place, while B2B e-commerce startup Round Technologies was third.

The other startups that pitched at the event were web-based STEM learning platform Zivai, crowd-sourced lost and found network Potea, savings startup MoneySmart, youth financial services company PENYA Finance, business setup platform BizeX, 3D bio-tech firm Ignite Africa, and agri-tech startups iFarm, Hurudza Africa and Hurukuro.

Seedstars World has already selected African winners in Egypt, Tunisia, South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, and Senegal this year.
