Applications are open for the SA Innovation Legends Competition, recognising entrepreneurs and companies whose innovative tech-enabled solutions will have a significant impact on the growth of the African continent.
The SA Innovation Legends Competition will see successful candidates invited to a “pitching den”, to pitch their businesses live to a panel of judges at the SA Innovation Summit, to be held in Johannesburg in September.
Those pitching will be considered for a range of SA Innovation Summit Prizes, which include technical advice and mentorship; PR exposure up to the value of ZAR500,000 (US$32,098); access to the Match and Invest Lounge, where key funders will be available for consultation; and an overseas trip to meet international investors in Europe; among others.
The competition is open to technology-enabled startups spanning any industry; although particular areas of interest include software and cloud-based solutions, big data, cyber security, fintech, nanotech, biotech and agri-food processing.
Entrants must be either controlled or headquartered in Africa; or have their management team and R&D team based on the continent.
To be eligible, candidates must also own proprietary technology or have intellectual property that contributes to a significant portion of operating revenue.
