Nigerian online furniture marketplace Showroom.ng raises seed funding

Nigerian online furniture marketplace Showroom.ng Nigeria’s has secured seed funding, saying it would not disclose the exact figure but putting it in the “seven-figure range”.

Launched earlier this year by ex-Konga employee Sheriff Shittu, Showroom.ng is a platform for furniture makers to showcase their products to buyers.

The furniture makers pay Showroom.ng a commission on each sale, with the company saying the funding round proved it had shown its ability to make quality furniture available to users.

Shittu said the round had been raised locally, and said he hoped the company could continue on its growth path and provide customers with quality service.

“It’s our goal to make quality modern furniture available to growing middle class in the country at affordable prices. We are glad we have additional fuel in our engine to power on,” he said.

“More so, we understand the enormous pressure our growth is bringing on our ability to meet up with our commitment. The reason for seeking additional funding is to make sure we can pursue our goal of building a one-stop destination for home and office furniture you can rely on.”
