Nigeria’s Hutbay organises startup co-working event

Lagos-based online real estate marketplace Hutbay is to hold a meetup event for founders and entrepreneurs who would like to find one or more startups or businesses they can share an office-space with.

Launched in 2013, Hutbay allows buyers, sellers, renters and real estate agents to find and share information. It currently has over 1,400 agents on its platform, with over 5,000 listings.

The startup said the event, which will be held at iDEA Nigeria this Friday, July 10, was inspired by the fact startups did not have the capacity to single-handedly rent office space and were required to join forces with other startups.

“It’s a meetup event to bring startup founders and entrepreneurs together and help them connect with others who want to share a space and the cost of rent together. From the feedback, we will assess how serious this pain is, its potential and whether we should extend Hutbay to provide a platform for sharing of office space,” Hutbay chief executive officer (CEO) Owolabi Olatunji told Disrupt Africa.

This event is free and open to all, offering tech talks and networking opportunities.

Disrupt Africa reported last month Hutbay had launched a new service allowing movers to get and compare quotes from removal companies and rate them online.

The startup said Hutbay Movers is similar to a directory of moving companies apart from the fact it is dedicated to moving companies and connecting movers with those who are about to move.

It comes with custom pages for moving companies, allowing users to know more about each company, and provides tools to request a quote and review a mover.
