Jumia appoints Dufay as sole MD in Ivory Coast

E-commerce company Jumia Ivory Coast has appointed Francis Dufay as sole managing director (MD) following the appointment of his former co-MD Fatoumata Ba to the same position at Jumia Nigeria.

Dufay joined Jumia Ivory Coast as co-MD in April of last year, and will now be solelyb responsible for driving the expansion of the first e-commerce website in the country.

He previously spent four years at consulting firm McKinsey & Company as a specialist in e-commerce strategy for Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa, and also holds a Master of Science degree from HEC Paris management school, a Master in Management from Cologne University and an MBA from the Northwestern University – Kellogg School of Management.

“This appointment marks a new phase of growth for Jumia Ivory Coast emphasised by several key themes: extension of Jumia’s presence inside the country with new branches, increasing of online assortments (furniture, appliances, mobile phone brands) offering a new service dedicated to companies and reinforcing relationships with local distributors,” the company said.

“Everything we do has one goal: Always improve our service and satisfy our customers. It is the only way Jumia will gain the confidence of the population and strengthen its position as the leading e-commerce destination in Ivory Coast,” said Dufay.
