Hotels.ng offers free stays to Nigerian voters

Nigerian online hotel booking platform Hotels.ng is offering a one-night free stay to those that vote in the upcoming national elections, which are less than three weeks away.

Hotels.ng said it was responding to a call from the country’s electoral commission for corporate bodies to provide initiatives to encourage citizen participation in the elections.

To participate in the competition, members of the public are called upon to post selfies of themselves and their friends at polling booths using the hashtags #ElectionDaySelfie and #Hotelsng on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter on March 28 and April 11 2015.

The startup has been busy of late, with Disrupt Africa reporting earlier this year it had announced a partnership with Nigeria’s biggest search engine VConnect to offer customers stays at resorts and hotels at 30 per cent discount.

In December Hotels.ng hit 6,000 listings on its service, with the company targeting 10,000 before the end of 2015, while it has also announced it is to sponsor the first hackathon in northern Nigeria, HackJos, aimed at encouraging developers to come up with solutions for the region’s problems.
