Negawatt Weekend set to take place in Ghana

0

The World Bank’s Global Information and Communication Technologies Practice and the iSpace Foundation will hold the Negawatt Weekend in Accra, Ghana on March 14-15, aimed at tackling energy efficiency challenges through innovative and tech-enabled solutions.

The Negawatt Weekend will convene teams of makers, hackers, coders, aspiring entrepreneurs, and energy specialists to develop innovative ideas for potential hardware and software solutions to address Accra-specific energy efficiency “challenge statements”.

Teams will pitch solutions to a panel of judges, with the top teams going on to receive further support through a bootcamp process.

Disrupt Africa reported last month Negawatt events were set for Ghana and Tanzania after the inaugural challenge was held in Nairobi, Kenya, on January 29.

The Negawatt Challenge hosts innovation competitions in various cities globally; with locations selected based on the government’s energy efficiency and low carbon growth, as well as the existence of dynamic and growing entrepreneurial and technology sectors.
