Angel Fair Africa heading to Kenya in November

Angel Fair Africa will take place in Kenya for the first time in November following previous editions in Johannesburg, Lagos and Accra, allowing startups to pitch in front of an investor audience for funding.

Angel Africa List and Chanzo Capital are hosting the event, with investment firms attending including the likes of the East Africa Angel Network, Ghana Angel Investor Network, Lagos Angel Network, NewGenAngels, and the African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association.

This year, the organisers have partnered with Village Capital, with the event to experiment with a peer selection model that will see Chanzo Capital make investments in peer-selected ventures after they have gone through a pre-event workshop.

The startups – selected from events such as Seedstars World, PIVOT East and DEMO Africa, will pitch during the event, while afterwards investors and entrepreneurs can connect to explore investment, business development and other types of deals.

Previous events have seen a number of deals, according to Angel Fair Africa co-founder Eric Osiakwan, with Vuyos gaining investment in Johannesburg, Hutbay and Autobox gaining funding in Lagos and Zeepay announcing its first seed investment deal after the Accra event last year.

“We are excited to partner with Chanzo Capital at this year’s Angel Fair Africa to implement the peer selection model and to make catalytic investments at the event,” Ross Baird, executive director of Village Capital, said.
