South Africa’s SiMODiSA Association, which aims to accelerate entrepreneurship through collaboration between policymakers and high growth startups, has appointed Matsi Modise as its new managing director.

Modise is the former national executive director of the South African Black Entrepreneurs Forum (SABEF) and an avid entrepreneurship activist.

Her background includes stints at various South African banks, institutions of higher learning and corporate entities, while she is currently on the board of Start Up Nations South Africa and a member of the Institute of Business Advisors.

Pieter de Villiers, chairman of SiMODiSA, which looks to engage senior government officials and amplify the work of entrepreneurs in South Africa through networking, events and competitions, saod he was looking forward to working with Modise.

“Matsi brings a wealth of experience and knowledge into her new role, and we are excited to have her on board,” he said.

Modise said she embraced the challenge of using her network and skills to advance the innovation value chain in South Africa.

“The positive multiplier effect on job and economic growth through supporting entrepreneurs is well proven the world over, and SiMODiSA is a nucleus of like-minded individuals who believe that public and private stakeholders need to immerse themselves into this dynamic ecosystem,” she said.
