South Africa’s First National Bank (FNB) has announced the 12 finalists of its Business Innovation Awards, with the winner to be offered the opportunity to present their solutions at the International Selection Panel (ISP) in New York later in the year.

The awards, which are being run in association with Endeavor, are aimed at businesses that are able to demonstrate innovation with the potential to change the way an industry operates.

Applicant startups were required to be founder-led, exhibit high-growth potential and demonstrate the capacity to add substantial economic value by means of job creation.

The finalists include food security company ArcAqua, opinion mining company BrandsEye, ed-tech startup ITSI Holdings, gaming startup Sea Monster, and African youth transformation company Khonology.

On-demand home cleaning startup SweepSouth, remittances company Hello Paisa, lending platform Lulalend, identity verification system ThisIsMe, payments gateway I-Pay, marketing startup Retail Engage and employee engagement platform Wyzetalk complete the list.

The winner will be announced on June 8.
