The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has taken its sexual health-related iAccelerator to Uganda in collaboration with Kampala-based hub Outbox following a successful launch in Nairobi.
The iAccelerator launched under the I.AM initiative aims to encourage young people to discuss, learn and understand their sexuality and sexual reproductive health by engaging with the right sources of information in a safe and un-stigmatised environment.
The programme rolled out in collaboration with Outbox is part of a regional initiative of the UNFPA East and Southern Africa Regional Office, and is funded by UKAID.
Disrupt Africa reported in June Nairobi-based incubator Nailab was the partner for the Nairobi version of the iAccelerator, which saw four Kenyan entrepreneurs selected to take part in the programme.
The one-year initiative will give successful Ugandan applicants seed funding of up to US$10,000 per team, and match them with top industry experts who can help them develop core skills as well as evaluate and commercialise their ideas for innovative ventures.
Interested parties are invited to attend a launch event at Outbox on November 10.
