Applications are open to the Secure Tenure in African Cities: Micro Funds for Community Innovation initiative, offering up to US$50,000 in grant money to tech innovators addressing land and property rights.
Launched by the Cities Alliance and funded by Omidyar Network, the Call for Proposals is seeking innovative ways to improve tenure security, and land and property rights in African cities, through the deployment of modern technologies.
Funding is available for projects with a duration of up to 12 months, with available grant sizes per project ranging from US$10,000 to US$50,000.
The aim of the Call is to provide opportunities for community-level projects by targeting national and local organisations, especially those typically regarded as high risk or hard to reach. As such, organisations rooted in their community and operating with community input, involvement, and investment will be prioritised in the selection process.
Projects can take place in any African country; and grant applications will be considered in English, French and Portuguese.
