GrowthAfrica has issued a last call for applications for its six-month accelerator programmes to run in Kenya and Uganda, targeting early-stage entrepreneurs with startups having a positive impact on society.

The two accelerator programmes will kick-off in March; and offer early-stage startups assistance in expanding their businesses, through an individually tailored programme, and access to national and international investors.

GrowthAfrica said it is interested in receiving applications from startups making a positive impact on society within any sector.  However sectors of particular interest include environment and sustainability, energy, IT, mobile and financial technologies, agriculture, construction and housing, health, education, and water and sanitation.

While one programme will return to Nairobi, Kenya; a new programme will also take place in Kampala, Uganda – marking GrowthAfrica’s first foray out of Kenya into another African market.

“GrowthAfrica is expanding across Africa and Kampala will be the first destination in this exciting plan to boost more African businesses outside Kenya. The region is full of innovative startups and we hope to discover many of them in Uganda and help them gain tools to grow and succeed,” Kete Shabani, communications manager at GrowthAfrica told Disrupt Africa.

“GrowthAfrica believes in Africa’s potential and knows that there are ambitious entrepreneurs who are just waiting to realize the next stage of their business with a little help from leading accelerators like us,” Shabani said.

Applications can be made here, and close on January 17.
