Seedstars World chooses 10 startups for Senegalese leg

Global seed-stage startups competition Seedstars World has chosen 10 startups to compete in the Senegalese leg in Dakar, with the winner gaining the opportunity to pitch for up to US$500,000 equity investment at the global final next year.

The event will take place at JokkoLabs in Dakar on November 17, with 10 of Senegal’s best startups competing to represent the country in Geneva, Switzerland and earn funding.

The 11 startups are e-health product VoLo, health app Kalanda-App, maternal health app Karangue, events platform Walapi, e-learning platform Samaskull, recruitment platform Wutiko, coding startup Teachers du Net, electronics e-commerce site Tekci, drug exchange platform JokkoSanté, and fashion social network Dakar Mode.

Seedstars World has already hosted African heats in Mozambique, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast,Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Angola and Tanzania.

“In the past years we have observed a strong entrepreneurial drive and digital revolution bubbling in Senegal,” said Gregory Pepper, regional manager for Africa at Seedstars World. “We are very excited to discover the initiatives developed by the local pioneers.”
