Deloitte uses M4JAM to launch latest SA startups survey

Deloitte is using the M4JAM platform to gather information from entrepreneurs operating in the Western Cape, the third such “startup survey” to be launched in South Africa this year.

Microjobbing platform M4JAM – which last month raised funding from Naspers and Tencent-owned WeChat Africa – takes big jobs from reputable companies and breaks them into smaller jobs, allowing users to complete simple tasks using their phones in exchange for cash and prizes.

Deloitte is asking South African entrepreneurs to share their thoughts online, after which two respondents will be randomly selected to receive an innovative market research package to the value of ZAR25,000 (US$2,000).

“At Deloitte, we recognise the significance of entrepreneurs to our economy. The Western Cape alone is a melting pot for almost every conceivable type of entrepreneur. Yet, little is known about being or becoming a successful entrepreneur in our region,” Deloitte said.

“What are your views on being an entrepreneur in the Western Cape? What are your thoughts on business growth and what obstacles to success do you foresee?”

Two other South African startup surveys were launched later this year, with Silicon Cape and SiMODiSA launching the Startup SA Government Support Survey, and entrepreneurial training programme Seed Academy launching its own survey aimed at obtaining a picture of the country’s startup sector and the challenges it faces.
